Hidden V’s and D’s
The RULES
Hidden V’s and D’s – The RULES
1. Start Date: January 1, 2026 End Date: March 4, 2026
2. Every Thursday starting January 1, a clue will be posted to the Vamps/Dons webpage. Solve the clue, find the wooden V or D, sign in!
3. The V or D will be hanging off a tree, off a log, off a sign or somewhere fairly obvious on one of the BCRD Trails, including Quigley. Sun Valley Nordic is off limits. We have tried to eliminate black trails.
4. There will be a plastic bag with paper, pens and pencils attached to the V or D.
5. Legibly write your full name and date on the paper provided. Put the signed paper and pencil/pen back in the bag.
6. Seal the bag so no moisture gets in. Put the V or D back where you found it if you had to take it down.
7. Each V or D will be up for two weeks for signing in (Thursday to a Wednesday 13 days later), but there will be a new clue every week, so they always overlap. Example, a V or D will be out, on a trail, 1/1 to 1/14, another will be out somewhere else 1/8 -1/21. Sign in any time before the end of the two-week period.
8. So, V/Ds will be up on Thursdays when you get the clue. Each is taken down two weeks later, on Wednesdays.
9. Sign in’s are tabulated. You must sign into at least 7 of the 8 V/D’s in order to be a legitimate finisher for prizes at the end of the season party.
10. If you need help solving the clue………

Clues:
#1 – V – Jan. 1- Jan. 14
Clue: Two options for the challenge, but the answer is pretty straight forward. If you can’t get it, seek help!!
1) This is best done by having someone read this to you:
a) Take your age. If it is 2 digits, add the 2 digits together. EG: 69 –> 6+9= 15
b) If the result is still a 2 digit number, again take those two digits and add them together: Eg: 15 –> 1+5 = 6.
c) Repeat until you end up with a single digit.
d) Now take that single digit. How may letters in it? Eg: 6 = 3 letters. So new number is 3
e) Now take that new number and again, how many letters in it. Repeat until you keep returning to the same single digit.
f) Now take that digit and multiply by 8. Then take your new number and subtract 2. That’s your answer – go to that kilometer marker and sign in.
2) What is the largest single digit prime number? Take that number and multiply by 5. Then subtract 5. That’s your answer – go to that kilometer marker and sign in.
Have fun!!
